Maker’s Common is the East Bay expansion of San Francisco’s popular cheese shop and café, Mission Cheese on Valencia Street. Sarah Dvorak, Oliver Dameron and Eric Miller launched a direct public offering, that raised a total of $600,000 from California investors. Half all-day restaurant and half retail food shop, the shop’s design focuses on maker culture. We custom designed a Gee’s Bend quilt-inspired tile pattern with local Fireclay tile, the hand-painted back wall mural is by the owner’s cousin, and a quilt by the owner’s mom hangs by the front windows. Repurposed and custom pendant lights are by East bay ceramicist Jered’s pottery and a custom charcuterie case showcases the in-house made salumi by owner Eric Miller. Countertops and tables are contractor-salvaged doug fir and chairs are by SF’s Chairtastic.
