New housing in the City of Chico creates social spaces for students read more...
This recently permitted project in Chico, California replaces a long-vacant lot near downtown with a new mid-rise building, providing 56 new units of housing. The six story building is designed with the student population in mind. In addition to efficient units, the design provides for social gathering areas, study rooms, and a cafe integrated into the ground floor design. To support non-automotive transportation, the project provides 97 bike parking spaces, including 25 for cafe visitors.
The project will be the tallest housing building in Chico. As such, Studio KDA worked hand-in-hand with the City staff to entitle and permit the building, often providing them with information on systems that were previously unfamiliar.
