Clients Joey Ng and Ute Bowes wanted a modern neighborhood bistro feel, but with a distinct nod to the ocean and the restaurant history at their previous Embarcadero location. The historic exterior storefront was brought back to it’s former glory with handmade ceramic tile in a brick pattern, new storefront windows and a copper entry door. Through the window customers can view the fresh offerings of the raw bar, and at night, the bar glows from the amber-lit shelves. Carrera Marble, natural steel and walnut round out the palette. The feature element of the space is a wrap-around custom gold leaf, hand-painted mural by local artist Letty Samonte.
