Elk Grove Zoo Restaurant

We were delighted to work on Elk Grove Zoo’s African savanna-inspired restaurant — a warm, immersive space with sweeping views of the giraffe habitat as part of the 65 acre zoo. Modeled after a South African lodge, the design features bold patterns, layered natural textures, sculptural woven lighting and indoor trees that bring the outside in.

The design showcases a sculptural wood “fringe” light installation suspended above a green quartzite bar countertop, complemented by zebra-striped terrazzo flooring. A mirrored planter flanked by tall trees adds depth and drama, while a migrating bird sculpture with 3D lighting effects by Mangolin Creative brings movement and artistry to the space

The bathroom features custom South African savannah-inspired wallpaper, ceramic mud pendant lights, and a bird’s nest light projection sculpture in the vestibule, creating an immersive and atmospheric experience.
