Uptown Oakland multifamily building fosters hanging out

Located near Oakland’s Uptown district, this new mixed-use building is designed to foster community for its residents. The 78 unit building provides numerous courtyards, balconies and a grand roof deck all of which are intended to bring people outside to engage with each other and enjoy the views of San Francisco Bay, Downtown Oakland and the East Bay hills. Additional opportunities for community are provided through the interior courtyard which cascades down from the fifth floor to the second floor allowing for a series of seating areas and landscape elements at each level. The façade design takes cues from the exuberance of the surrounding building fabric with a palette of rich colors, regular window patterns, and a central entry flanked by ground level amenity spaces. The facade “bobbles” are courtesy of the Oakland Arts Program.
