In collaboration with Mitchell Holladay Architects, SKDA is designing a 61,000-square-foot residential treatment facility located at 3788 Depot Road in Hayward. The four-story, Type IB building will provide a secure mental health rehabilitation environment serving individuals from under-supported communities with complex behavioral health needs.
The design prioritizes safety, dignity, and long-term recovery through a carefully organized plan that balances security with access to daylight, views, and outdoor space. Well-scaled communal areas support social connection and therapeutic programming, while landscaped open spaces offer opportunities for respite and healing. A clear, efficient layout improves wayfinding and operational clarity, supporting staff workflows and enabling effective care delivery. Construction is anticipated to begin in September 2026.
